VORTEX NATIONAL VET MX CHAMPIONSHIP

The 6th Annual Vortex National Motocross Championship will once again be run at Motocross of Marion County.  This event features the veteran racers, but also includes classes for the veterans of tomorrow.  Be a part of this prestigious motocross event.  Motocross stars from the past have been invited to participate. Open practice on Saturday, February 21, with a Pig Roast Saturday evening.  The Pig Roast is sponsored by Seminole PowerSports.

Growing Bolder was at the 2008 race and shot some of the action and interviewed a number of the riders.  Growing Boulder was founded by Marc Middleton to provide a forum to recognize folks like the "Vet Motocross Racers".  Bill Shaffer, and Andrea Coudriet, former newscaster's from WESH Channel 2, are also members of the GB organization.  Visit Growing Bolder at www.browingbolder.com, and watch for the race coverage in the near future.

36th ANNUAL FLORIDA WINTER AM SERIES

Must be a member of AMA and Unlimited Sports to participate in this series.  Both AMA and Unlimited Sports memberships can be purchased at the track on race day, and the cost is $39 and $20 respectively. Classes will run 3 moto format beginning on Sat. & Sun. With the exception of the Pro classes and plus classes marked with an asterisk * below. Those classes will be a 2 moto format racing on Sun. ONLY.  You must attend all six rounds to be eligible for an award.

This series attracts riders from all over the Southeastern U.S.  Must be a member of AMA and Unlimited Sports to participate in this series.  Both AMA and Unlimited Sports memberships can be purchased at the track on race day, and the cost is $39 and $15 respectively.  Saturday practice is $20. 

FLORIDA MOTOCROSS SERIES

The June round of the Florida Motocross Series will also include the Annual Muscular Dystrophy Benefit Auction.  The auction will offer a variety of motorcycle riding gear and accessories, plus many other great items.  Most of the riding gear has been donated by the top MX/SX pro riders, and is signed by them.  Bring a little extra cash for this event, and join in on the bidding for top riders signed gear and much more.  It's a worthy cause, and all proceeds of the auction go to MDA.  With the aid of sponsors and riders, we have raised and sent nearly $100,000 to MDA over the past 14 years.

Gates open Friday at 5pm, and gates fees are as follows:

• Friday, open at 5pm - $25 (Gates close at 10pm)
  Saturday, gates open at 7am - $20 (Gates close at 10pm)
• Sunday - gates open at 6:30am - $15

Practice on Saturday from 9am - 3pm, cost is $20 per rider.

Race fees are $25 per class for Amateur classes, and $50 for Pro Money.

 v Florida MX Series banquet for 2007 awards will be held on Friday, February 15th at the Hilton Inn Ocala at 3600 Southwest 36th Ave, 352-854-1400 (click here for directions).  Doors open at 6pm, dinner at 7pm with awards to follow.

There will be an open practice day on Friday from 9am to 3pm.  Practice fee is $20 per class.  See below for details. 

Classes racing on Saturday will be all stock classes, women, and Pee Wee's.

Classes racing on Sunday, will be all +classes, mod classes, 250 C, 4-stroke, and non-qualifying Pee Wee's.

Gates open Friday at 5pm, and gates fees are as follows:

Open Practice 9am to 3pm (unless noted below).  Gate fee $5 (when no race is scheduled the following day), and practice fee is $20.  No overnight parking, unless a race is scheduled the following day. 

If there is a race on Sunday the gate fee for Saturday's practice will be $20, which includes the next days race gate fee of $10. If you arrive Friday night and wish to camp overnight the weekend gate fee is $25. There is no refund on gate fees.  Practice dates subject to change.

v All minors must be accompanied by a legal guardian, or have notarized note designating an adult as guardian with authority to make medical decisions if necessary. 

v All riders must have adequate riding gear, including helmet, long sleeve jersey or shirt, riding pants or durable jeans, boots, gloves & goggles.  Chest protector and kidney belt recommended.

v No advanced reservations will be taken for the Motocross Schools.  Sign up at the track the morning of the school. Come early because classes will be limited.  If you have questions about the Motocross School, you can call Travis Blackburn at 352-812-6640.
